I just returned from Colorado where I played some golf. I had trouble judging distances there, the ball definitely flew differently from what I'm used. How can I determine distances at different elevations?   - John Simoneaux, Woodstock, GA

     There is definitely a change in how far the ball travels in higher elevations. With the air being lighter at higher elevations, the golf ball doesn't receive the resistance that it would at a lower elevation. The rule of thumb is that you are going to hit about one less club at the higher elevations. For example, if you were playing here at the TPC at Sugarloaf and the shot called for a 7 iron, in Denver you would hit an eight iron. - Jeff Krohn, Head Pro, TPC Sugarloaf
